Reducing Our Footprint
DS Containers is committed to Sustainability. Our state-of-the-art steel can manufacturing process was designed to produce a modernized, two-piece, laminated steel aerosol can. This coil-to-can approach optimizes the use of material and energy to produce lightweight, high quality, recyclable aerosol cans; resulting in a reduced carbon footprint.
Our steel aerosol cans are made from tin-free steel, coated on both sides with PET (a polyester polymer). The polymer coating eliminates the need for solvent-based interior lining, thereby significantly reducing any carbon emissions. The finished cans have no welded side seam, which eliminates the need for copper wire during manufacturing.

Most community recycling operations now accept steel aerosol cans, and we are working to encourage further inclusion in both curbside and drop-off programs. Lightweighting is one of the best ways to improve the environment and economic efficiency of any packaging product. Our two-piece steel cans are at least 10% lighter than comparable three-piece aerosol containers.
Overall, we feel we have “right-sized” both our product and our process, and we continue to work with customers and suppliers to better our score.
